Drexler Motorsport's first exposure to motor racing in Australia was during the late 1980s. Differential parts manufactured by the company were used in Dick Johnson's Ford Sierra Cosworth Group A touring cars, which went on to win the two Australian touring car championships & the Bathurst 1000.

In 2005 following a visit to Drexler Motorsport in Germany Herbert Gattermeier's Bavaria Cars BMW performance workshop was appointed as the Australian distributor for their products. Initial sales were encouraging and success on the racetrack soon followed with the 2007 Bathurst 12 hour race being won by a BMW 335i fitted with a Drexler Motorsport limited slip differential.

While the sales and on track performance were promising the fact that Bavaria Cars dealt primarily with BMWs meant that some motorsport teams, performance workshops and enthusiasts of different automotive brands weren't fully aware that Drexler Motorsport products were available for their specific vehicles.

To correct this issue the company Drexler Motorsport Australia was established in 2008 as a separate entity from Bavaria Cars. Managed by Erik Gattermeier the new company is the official Australian agent for Drexler Motorsport and concentrates totally on the sales and service of their products.

To further highlight the commitment to the product in 2009 Erik travelled to Germany to undertake 3 months of training at the Drexler Motorsport factory. Here he learnt all aspects of LSD configuration & assembly and was also trained up on other Drexler Motorsport products. While undergoing training Erik was also able to follow the success of their components in the European motor racing scene.

Taking in racing action from the Formula 3 Euro series, European truck racing, World Touring Car Championship, FIA Hill climb racing, FIA GT3 and the famous Nürburgring 24 hour race Erik was able to see first hand the effectiveness of Drexler Motorsport driveline parts.
